Threshing Bee 2017
On August 12, 2017, the RM held a threshing bee celebrating the community and Canada’s 150th birthday. The bee brought community members young and old together to share stories, learn something new, and reminisce about old times. With events for children, food and music, volunteers, and donations to the food bank, a good time was had by all.
The display of machinery from the 1940’s to the massive combines of today shows just how far technology has advanced.
Fifteen year old Taylor Strudwick and his 12 year old cousin Aidan were able to show off their threshing machines from the 1940’s. The boys purchased threshing machines which required repairs. With work they were able to restore them to working condition.
With sheaves that were supplied, the boys were able to demonstrate how the process worked with help from family members. The Star Newspaper Threshing Bee article
