The RM of Edenwold is accepting applications for the position of Full-Time Financial Officer.  Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Financial Officer will play a key role in the financial administration of the municipality with an operating budget exceeding $12M. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and direct all accounting functions including compliance with applicable legislation and reporting requirements;
  • All activities and services associated with accounting, budgeting, auditing, general ledger, GST, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, reporting, development and application of internal controls;
  • Prepare annual operating and capital budgets;
  • Prepare a variety of financial reports including monthly financial statements, year-end statements, periodic variance analysis and long-range financial planning;
  • Act as primary liaison with external auditor;
  • Manage reserve accounts and debt portfolios;
  • Maintaining local improvement register, debenture register, and school liability statement;
  • Manage the five year capital plans and maintain the Asset Management Plan;
  • Maintaining the tangible capital asset schedules;
  • Research external funding sources and prepare grant applications for funding capital projects;
  • Manage project funding and payment of expenditures;
  • Deal effectively with Council and other staff members relating to financial inquiries;
  • Administer employee payroll and benefits.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Business Diploma; or
  • Rural Class “C” Certificate in Local Government Administration;
  • A professional accounting designation (CPA) or in the process of attaining a designation as a registered student member in good standing with an accounting organization is an asset but not necessary;
  • Knowledge of accounting applications, GAAP and public-sector accounting standards;
  • Familiarity with Munisoft and Paymate software or a proven aptitude working with IT software systems is an asset;
  • A strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software is an asset;
  • Ability to prepare financial statements and reports with a high degree of quality and accuracy;
  • Ability to effectively work with management, support staff and elected officials;
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines.

SALARY & BENEFITS:

  • The RM of Edenwold offers a competitive salary and benefit package based on education, qualifications and relevant experience.
  • Salary Range:     $45,000 to $60,000 per year

The RM of Edenwold is accepting applications for the position of Full-Time Administrative Assistant.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12;
  • Office Education Certificate;
  • Certificate in Local Government Administration is considered an asset but not necessary;
  • Familiarity with Munisoft software or a proven aptitude working with IT software systems is an asset;
  • Experience in general office duties and a knowledge of basic accounting principles is required;
  • A strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software is an asset;
  • Ability to prepare reports with a high degree of quality and accuracy;
  • Ability to effectively work with management, support staff and elected officials;
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines.

SALARY & BENEFITS:

  • The RM of Edenwold offers a competitive salary and benefit package based on education, qualifications and relevant experience.
  • Salary Range:     $36,000 to $43,000 per year
