Development Proposals

The Planning and Development team regularly reviews and processes applications for variety of developments. While our team reviews projects for Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw compliance, the majority of development within the RM is developer/landowner led and initiated.

Public Hearings & Open Houses

Some development projects within the RM, specifically Discretionary Use and Rezoning Applications, require public notice.
  • Discretionary Uses are those activities that Council believes may have a more significant effect on surrounding properties and therefore require greater public engagement and review.
  • Rezoning Applications amended the Zoning Bylaw Map, changing a property's zoning district or land use permissions. These applications are reviewed to ensure they align with planning objectives and priorities.

Comprehensive Development Proposals

Comprehensive Development Proposals (CDPs) are documents developers must submit to the Municipality when undertaking large development projects. CDPs are required by the Zoning Bylaw for any application to rezone, subdivide, re-subdivide, or re-develop 3 or more lots/sites, or for smaller areas if deemed appropriate and necessary.
