If you are constructing a new dwelling or commercial/industrial building a refundable occupancy deposit will be included with your building permit fees. This deposit helps to ensure that buildings are completed in accordance with building codes and any approved drainage plans. The occupancy deposit process also provides a safeguard to ensure that all buildings and properties are built at a safe elevation, properly connected to water & sewer services and have civic addresses assigned.
All documents submitted prior to the return of the deposit are also stored and saved in municipal records for future reference.
The deposit amount is as follows:
The cost of any required inspections by the Building Official that were not covered in the original building permit fee may be deducted from the Occupancy Deposit. If the builder/property owner does not satisfactorily submit the required survey certificates prior to occupancy, the Municipality may also undertake the necessary work to have the certificates prepared by a Licensed Saskatchewan Surveyor.
Please Note: Occupying a building before passing an occupancy inspection may result in the automatic loss of the full deposit amount.

The RM of Edenwold is working with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency to assign civic addresses to all properties in the RM. These addresses are registered on the Civic Address Registry (CAR) system and are available to 911-First Responders during emergencies. If you are building a home or commercial/industrial building on a previously unoccupied Quarter Section or acreage a civic address may not yet be assigned. Click the link above to learn more.
If you are connecting to municipal water there are additional steps prior to occupancy. Click the above link to read about connecting to Municipal Water.
