Water Security Agency (WSA) News
The Water Security Agency (WSA) is pleased to be continuing with a program that offers Saskatchewan residents $700,000 in cost-sharing funding for channel clearing activities, including the removal of obstructions caused by trees, brush, deadfall, and other materials that can lead to flooding and erosion issues on roads and surrounding lands.
The Channel Clearing and Drainage Project Maintenance Assistance Program promotes water security by assisting individual landowners and local governments, including rural municipalities, small urban municipalities, conservation & development area authorities, and watershed association boards. It also enables rural landowners to actively manage waterways on their properties, improving the health and sustainability of local ecosystems and reducing the risk of flooding and erosion.
Eligible activities under the program include obstruction removal, such as beaver dam removal, within natural watercourses or approved drainage projects. By providing cost-sharing for critical infrastructure maintenance, the program promotes the long-term health and sustainability of local waterways. Individual landowners may be eligible for up to $50,000, while local governments could be eligible for up to $99,500 for projects completed in 2025-26.
