Awasis Organics Facility: Fact Sheet
Awasis
Organics Ltd., in partnership with Cowessess Ventures Ltd., is constructing a
state-of-the-art organic waste processing facility adjacent to Highway 33 on
Cowessess Reserve Lands. The facility will service the City of Regina’s Green
Bin program under an 8-year municipal processing contract. In addition to the
City contract, Awasis Organics processing services will extend to clients in
the regional area. Unlike traditional open-air composting, this facility
utilizes advanced, fully enclosed, Best Available Technology (BAT)
non-combustion pyrolysis technology that thermochemically converts organic
waste into high-value Class A Biochar through controlled heating in the absence
of oxygen—not by burning—thereby eliminating odours, vectors, and landfill
methane emissions.
