R.M. of Edenwold No. 158 held their 100th Anniversary celebration in Emerald Park on Saturday, June 23, 2012. The parade started the festivities with 63 entries of all types including marching bands, antique and new farming machines, horses, clowns, floats and unique cars.
Carey Smith of CTV Morning Show emceed the opening ceremonies and we were honored to have Lieutenant Governor, Hon. Vaughn Solomon Schofield, Hon. Andrew Scheer, M.P. Regina Qu'Appelle, Hon. Don McMorris, MLA, Indian Head-Milestone, Hon. Christine Tell, MLA, Regina Wascana Plains, Ray Orb - Vice President, Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities bring greetings. 20 Century Family Farm families were recognized for the tradition and heritage of farming the same land for 100 years or more.
The afternoon family fun activities included balloon creations by Twisted Creations, Dino bouncers, Street Culture Kidz children's activity center, crafts, face art and games, Griffiths small animal Petting Zoo, Zumba demonstration by Loca Fitness, Farmers Market, historical displays, Hoop Dancing by Terrance Littletent and an evening of music by the Uncoolas Hit Revue. The food services and beer garden was operated by Prairie Storm Minor Hockey.
The celebration ended with a fantastic fireworks display by Ruggierie Fireworks.
The RM would like to thank the Anniversary Chairperson, Donna Strudwick, and her small army of helpers for all of their hard work. The event was a great success and enjoyed by all.
