Business Licenses

The RM of Edenwold is home to over 130 businesses. In fact, most of the businesses you see along Highway 1 east of Regina are within the RM. The Trans-Canada highway runs through the RM, in addition to three other busy highways. Close proximity to these transportation options is a bonus for businesses that require reliable and efficient transportation routes. Because of our ideal location, the RM of Edenwold is a prime place to conduct business.

If you are interested in starting a business in the RM or moving an existing business to the RM, please contact the RM Planning Department at (306) 347-2965 or by email at susan.stevenson@edenwold-sk.ca. They will be able to assist you through the development process and get your business operating quickly and efficiently.

UPDATE: October 23, 2023: The Council and Administration from the RM of Edenwold listened to the business community and made the necessary changes to the process of obtaining a Business License. The Council passed the new Business License Bylaw 2023-04 on February 14, 2023. The major improvement within this new bylaw was adding more clarity and efficiency to the process. For example, business licenses no longer have an expiration date and do not require annual renewal.

Business License

To support businesses and the safety of residents, all businesses operating in the municipality require a business license. Once received, a business license lasts indefinitely or until the business moves or is sold/purchased by someone else. There are many advantages to obtaining a municipal business license:

  • All businesses require a business license as outlined in the RM's Business License Bylaw. Failure to receive a business license may result in fines or legal action.
  • Access to municipal programs through the Economic Development & Recovery Plan, including the Green Fund.
  • Be involved in municipal decision-making regarding future development and business decisions.

There is no fee to apply for a business licence. To apply, please complete a Business License Application and submit it to the RM Office by dropping it off at the RM Office, mailing it to 100 Hutchence Road, Emerald Park, SK, S4L 1C6, or sending a scanned copy of your application to susan.stevenson@edenwold-sk.ca

Business licenses are issued on the 15th and 30th/31st of each month. Depending on the nature of your business, you may also be required to provide additional provincial or federal approvals.
